At St Lawrence we work together to build a caring, inclusive community, collectively creating a love of learning  where children grow and flourish under God's guidance. We teach our children the Christian values and attitudes to learning that they need to become good citizens and reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

PARABLE OF THE LOST SHEEP (LUKE:15)

Our pupils enjoy learning about the stories that Jesus taught and we have chosen a parable that links with our school vision. We chose the parable of ‘The Lost Sheep’ as it helps us understand the vision of one family that supports, cares for and loves all where everyone is valued and included.

  • Love:The shepherd showed his love for the sheep
  • Kindness:When the shepherd carried the sheep
  • Honesty: He was a good shepherd who was trusted to care for the sheep properly
  • Responsibility: The shepherd took care and protected the sheep
  • Courage: The shepherd went out to look in dangerous places
  • Respect: The shepherd treated the sheep well and valued each and every one
  • Integrity: The shepherd did the right thing, not abandoning the sheep
  • Empathy: The shepherd was worried about the sheep being in danger

Now the tax collectors and people that were labelled sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.’

So Jesus told them this parable. ‘Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and then you find that one of them is missing.

Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in safety and go searching for the lost sheep?

And doesn’t he keep searching until he finds the missing sheep?

‘And when he finds the lost sheep, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, “Let’s celebrate - I have found my lost sheep.”’

Jesus then went on to say, ‘In the same way there will be more celebration in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.’
