Welcome to Year 5! We love to learn and look out for our friends. We are enthusiastic, inquisitive and are always looking for ways to improve and extend our learning.

Our topic is 'Scream Machine'

We will be learning about forces, mechanisms and theme parks around the world. Learn about the science behind roller coasters and enjoy some mini investigations on cam mechanisms, pendulums, and pulleys. Let’s go behind the scenes to see forces at work.

Long Term Plans:

Medium Term Plan:

 Half Term Plan:

Homework will be set every Monday and needs to be completed by the following Monday.

Reading is very important and we would like the children to have a reading book with them every day. We encourage the children to read to someone at home every day. Please sign in their diaries when you have heard them read.

Every week there will be English homework on, the user names and passwords for this are in the homework diaries.

Maths homework will be alternated each week. There will either be work set on or The login for these have also been placed in the homework diaries.

Spelling words are given out on a Monday. We revise them during the week in class but it is still necessary to learn these words at home for the spelling test the following Monday.

Please can Parents/Carers sign the homework book weekly. This will be checked on Monday morning for the previous week.

In year 5, we have PE on Tuesday and swimming on Thursday. Please come to school wearing your PE kit on these days, dressed appropriately for the weather. Swimming kit should be brought in in a named bag on Thursdays. Earrings should not be worn during PE. Please either remove them before school or ensure that your child is able to remove them independently before the lesson. We also take part in the Daily Mile.
