We have quite an adventure ahead of us this year, so let’s jump right in as a team! There is lots to learn and lots of fun to be had along the way.
Our Topic is 'School Days'
In the School Days project, your child will have the opportunity to take part in a traditional Victorian class and will learn about the differences between schooling in the Victorian era and schooling today. They will learn about objects found in a Victorian classroom and how they were used. They will research Samuel Wilderspin, an important figure in the development of schooling for young children in the Victorian era, whose ideals are reflected in schooling today. They will learn to describe the passage of time through study of past, present and future tense vocabulary.

Long Term Plan | Half Term Plan | Timetable |
Homework:
Homework: Homework will be set every Tuesday and needs to be completed by the following Monday.
Reading: Reading is incredibly important and we would like each child to bring with them their books and yellow reading record each day in their folder.
Your child will take two different types of book home:
- Little Wandle Phonics book – this book will come home with your child on Friday, after completing their reading groups throughout the week, and is to be returned on Monday.
- Sharing book – this book has been chosen by them and should be enjoyed together. Therefore, it is important to remember that their chosen book may not directly match to their reading ability. They will be changed at different points through the week.
English: Every week there will be English homework will be stuck into a book to be completed.
Maths: Maths homework will be work set on www.mathletics.com.
Spellings: Spelling words are given out and should be practiced at home for a quiz the following Monday.
PE and swimming:
Each week we have a swimming lesson on Wednesday and an outside PE lesson on Thursday. Please make sure your child wears their PE kit to school on PE day. Please make sure all earrings are removed and your child is not wearing trainers with laces. We also take part in the Daily Mile on non PE days.
