School uniform has been updated since September 2024.

There will be a transition phase when pupils in Key Stage 2 may continue to wear white shirt with school tie or new white polo with school logo; blue v-neck, blue sweatshirt with logo, or blue cardigan with logo.

St Lawrence school uniform performs a number of functions:

  • Making pupils a part of their school community
  • Creating a level playing field which reduces peer pressure and helps prevent bullying
  • Identifying our pupils when out of school for trips or events
  • Fostering a sense of pride

Whichever version of uniform your child wears during this transition phase, our focus is on them taking pride in their appearance and promoting the ethos of the school.

Uniform without logo can be purchased from any convenient retailer of your choice provided it matches the uniform description (above).  Our school uniform with logo is available to buy online from Your School Uniform.

FoSL usually has plenty of second-hand uniform available for sale, normally at £1 per item.  Regular second-hand uniform sales are held.

The school offers financial assistance to families struggling to buy school uniform.  This should be applied for by completing the financial assistance request form which is available either on the school website or as paper copies in the school office.

Children with hair that is long enough to be tied back should wear it tied back from their faces at all times.  This is for health and safety reasons as well as reducing the spread of head lice. Please note that hair accessories should be simple and in the same colours as the school uniform.

School Uniform Q and A's

Jewellery

No jewellery is to be worn at school.

Watches may be worn if appropriate. All watches (including Fit-bits etc) should be removed for PE for the health and safety of the children.

Children are allowed to wear fitbits (or equivalent) to encourage activity. However, if they are distracting pupils they will have to be removed. Apple watches or similar are not allowed to be worn in school.

Children may wear earrings to school but they must be small, simple studs. The Headteacher reserves the right to deem earrings unsuitable or inappropriate. Earrings cannot be worn during PE, therefore we recommend that earrings are not worn on PE days but, if they are, your child must be able to remove them and put them back in independently.

ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS ARE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL AT THE OWNERS RISK.  ITEMS OF HIGH OR SENTIMENTAL VALUE SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.
