Pause Days
We hold at least three ‘Pause Days’ every year to celebrate different themes or festivals. In recent years themes have been; Advent, Christmas, Easter, Our Values. New Year and ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.
On these special occasions, we ‘pause’ the ordinary timetable and spend the day focusing on the theme in creative and reflective ways. We plan a rotation of activities which might include art, music, writing, drama, discussion or stories. It may include a visit to the Church and some additional activities planned and run by volunteers from the parish. The whole day encourages spiritual development, deep thinking and building confidence to share and discuss our different ideas.
Pause Days are always looked forward to and enjoyed by the children and the staff. They encourage a sense of us all working together on common aims.
Our recent Pause Day had the theme of ‘Hope’ and the message of Hope brought by the angels at the Nativity. We created gift bags to share this message with the local community and our volunteers. Each class created something to add and the School Council baked shortbread with Mrs Draper. We then took a group of children to deliver them and sing some carols in the village. Our gifts were very well received and we had some lovely letters from the recipients.
