We have an elected School Council with representatives from each class in the school. The Council meets regularly and is asked for their opinions on various aspects of school life.
The findings from the meetings are then shared with SLT and do influence school policy. Recent examples of these have been the Behaviour Policy which was drawn up after the Council told Mrs Cottrell what stopped them learning and what spoiled play times. Golden Time is being reviewed and the Council has made suggestions of activities they would like to see included. These contributions are valuable and guide the SLT to make changes which will impact positively on pupils.
We send representatives from School Council to an area meeting and they then report back with news and ideas from other schools.
Mrs McCarthy is the staff member who co ordinates the School Council.
